That incident actually was publicitised in the Australian media quite a lot. I heard about it and read about it many times in the same day. (I live in Australia)
And what is one incident out of 250,000 unincidental cases? Have you looked at the incidency rate for Japan or those other countries you mentioned?

As for the 'inclining hatred', people read things differently. I didn't read it as though he was showing hatred at all.

From looking at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship's website, it is my understanding that the additional year mentioned above is not actually a requirement but rather an opportunity for students who don't initially meet the requirements of the Skilled Migration visa to stay in Australia to gain the additional skills they need for permanent residency.

Comment on Australian skills requirement raises residency bar for overseas students by Apurv Bhalla

I came in Australia in 2004 to study Masters of accounting, i was one of top ten % high achivers in CQU. After i finished my study i have been applying for the jobs in accounting for a year now and i am always told that other candidates have better calibre. i work in a club as bar tender and apply for at least 5-10 graduate positions everyweek. Always the same reply. Other students have got the jobs but that by writing wrong experience in resume and giving reference number of a friend who is already working in a firm somewhere. Obviously who is giving wrong work experience and these recruiter buy that. Reply i get is that sorry mate you do not have experience. Yeah i do not have experience in lies.

Now with new laws i feel international students are gonna be robbed. First they will pay $30000 for their degree, pay tax, earn only 20 hours a week with the maximum 20 x 18per hour = $360 a week and tax on that. less rent travel and pains. also the dicriminating attitude of aussie society... call us "curry munchers".

The point i want to raise here is that "THERE ARE NEW AGENCIES COMING UP WHO PROVIDE WORK EXPERIENCE TO INTERNATONAL STUDENTS , CHARGE ABOUT $7000 COURSE AND PROMISE TO PROVIDE WORK EXPERIENCE. SO ADD THAT TO THE MISERIES AND THAT IS SURE NO ONE WILL HIRE AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT IF YOU TELL EMPLOYER THAT YOU HAVE ONE YEAR CONDITIONAL VISA...OR EMPLOYER MAY ASK STUDENTS TO WORK FOR FREE FOR SOME TIME, OR PAY THEM SOME MONEY TO GET JOB. ALL IS GOOD OF AUSTRALIAN EMPLOYERS BUT BAD FOR STUDENTS LIKE ME. I AM PERMANENT RESIDENT BUT I AM WORRIED ABOUT WHAT AUSTYRALIAN JOB MARKET +IMMIGRATION HAS STORE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS.

Another tragic death in a family, but this one was not widely published by the Australian media(This incident occured about a month back).

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2007/10/10/1191695968357.html

International students must be careful in choosing Australia as a study destination. Hate crimes are on the rise in Australia. Recently another student was attacked in Melbourne.

Also Australia’s immigration minister Kevin Andrews is inciting hatred against immigrants from Asia, Middle East and Africa.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22564133-5005961,00.html

Canada,US,UK, New Zealand and Ireland may be a good alternative for International students, as governments in these countries do not incite hate crimes. For Asian(and other) students Japan, South Korea and Singapore could be an alternative study option as these countries are increasing looking for International students.

Hi there,
Im currently an MBA student at University of Auckland doing a project on Hungary's tertiary education sector - more particularly on international students studying in Hungary.

I was wondering if its possible to get some figures on the following:
1. total number of international students for 2006 studying in Hungary
2. from which country are they from and number per country?
3. is it possible to break these numbers down per university and college?

I will be leaving for Budapest next week, so hoping to hear back from you at your earliest convenience.

Best regards
Alamu
