Business daily Vilaggazdasag reports around 14,000-15,000 foreign citizens study in Hungary’s various higher education institutions. A third are ethnic Hungarians from adjacent countries, said the paper.
Courses taught in English at the prestigious (and expensive) Budapest Cornivus University, specialising in economics, are host to around 170 foreign students and these typically pay 750,000 forints (EUR 2,900). Many students find the Cornivus good value however, especially since the post-graduate pick-up rate at American universities for PhDs is high.
